Emergency Declared in Bahía Blanca Due to Severe Weather

Bahía Blanca is going through a chaotic phenomenon that has led the city to declare a state of emergency. The Mayor, Federico Susbielles, has proposed the suspension of all public and private activities, and the UTA union has decided to cancel urban public transport for today.

In an interview with a local journalist named Fabio, it was detailed that the local government, in collaboration with the provincial government, has been working hard since early morning to address the damage caused by the storm. The army is deployed in the streets thanks to the management of Carlos Bianco, and local clubs have opened their doors to welcome affected people and provide assistance.

The interviewee mentioned that the city of Bahía Blanca receives approximately 600 millimeters of rain annually, while in just five hours during this event, more than 300 millimeters have been recorded. Two years ago, in 2023, the city had already experienced a climatic flood from which it only managed to recover at the end of last year.

Finally, it was reported that the Firefighters are working together with Civil Defense of Bahía Blanca, and the mayor is monitoring the situation since early hours of the day. The magnitude of this event, with a rainfall intensity of about 50 millimeters per hour, is unprecedented in the city and is generating significant challenges for local authorities.
